MULTI-DAY EVENTS


Outdoor Skating

Dates: Sunday, January 22nd-29th

Time: 6:00am – 11:00pm

Location: Stuart Park, 1439 Water Street

The outdoor skating rink at Stuart Park is open for casual, drop-in use daily, except on Mondays, when it is closed from 6-8am for maintenance. No pre-bookings are required, this season.

Skate rentals will be available on-site, but make sure to bring your own protective gear for outdoor skating (such as helmets) and hand sanitizer and face coverings for added COVID-safety.

Skate Rental Hours:

11:00am – 8:00pm, daily (weather permitting)

Skate Rentals Cost:

  • Adults: $6.00
  • Children, 2 and under: $5.00
  • EZ bars: $2.00
  • Helmets: $2.00

PLEASE NOTE: equipment rentals are cash only and weather permitting. Make sure to check ice conditions, maintenance schedules and crowd levels using the live cam on the City of Kelowna website before heading down to the rink.

TNT Food Truck will be on-site during peak hours offering food for purchase.

Make it Count Activity Bags

Childhood Connections is offering free craft activity bags for parents to engage in with their children!


Family Play Time

Dates: Monday, January 23rd to Friday, January 27th

Time: 9:00am – 10:30am and 11:00am – 12:30pm

Location: Kelowna Family YMCA, 375 Hartman Road

Join us with your child (aged 0-6 years) at Kelowna Family Y for our free, registered play program. Explore, create, imagine, and play in a variety of activities for you and your child. Meet other families through group activities in a comfortable play environment and learn about services in your community. Register to come play in our Family Play Time program, complete our scavenger hunt, and enter to win a prize!

Reading with Friends!

Bring your favorite book to the Hub during the week.  You can, either, read your book to the Hub participants or we will read it for you!  We’ll enter your name in a draw for a $25.00 gift certificate to Mosaic Books, just for sharing your favorite book!

Want to make homemade, chemical-free and affordable playdough? Come join the staff at Métis Nation British Columbia for a morning of making playdough lessons at the Mamawapowin Early Years Centre! Mamawapowin is a culturally safe and inclusive environment open to all families who would like to learn to make homemade playdough while learning about Métis culture. All playdough ingredients will be provided.

Field Sketching is a powerful way to practice and observation skills and is fundamental to science. Drawings can capture details that aren’t easily described. Take the spark you feel when you are out in nature and learn to draw it on paper with us!

LEGO at the Library

Discover Your Parks

The Okanagan is home to a diversity of wildlife and ecosystems. Join a park interpreter on a guided hike for an insider’s look at the trails, history, plants, animals, and other unique features that make the park special.

Dinosaur Roar

Dinosaurs were HOW BIG? Using real paleontology equipment and fossil exploration, we will imagine a land filled with dinosaurs. How loud can you roar? Tickets are a pay what you can structure. Limited space, pre-registration required.


Family Swim

Animal Adaptations

Date: Sunday, January 29th

Location: Mission Creek Park, 2363 Springfield Road – look for the tents set up by the
main playground

This hands-on activity provided by Let’s Talk Science Outreach at UBC Okanagan, along with Regional District of Central Okanagan Interpreters, will allow youth to have the opportunity to explore different ways that animals insulate themselves to stay warm in winter by testing different insulating materials in snow/ice cold water.


Nakulamen: How Turtle Set the Animals Free

Date: Sunday, January 29th

Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Location: Okanagan Heritage Museum, 470 Queensway

Winter is a time for storytelling and this family-friendly event is a great way to spend part of a long, winter evening. Join us for this captíkwł with Wildrose Native Traditions and learn more about syilx storytelling culture! Tickets are a pay what you can structure with a suggested ticket price of $15 per household.
