Pool Play!

Location: Parkinson Recreation Centre Pool, 1800 Parkinson Way, Kelowna

The City of Kelowna Active Living & Culture has generously organized a free public swim!! So, find those suits you thought you’d have tucked away for another few months and show everyone your best butterfly stroke or swan dive.

Proof of vaccination is required for children 12 & up.


Winter Walk

Dates: Sunday, January 23rd

Time: 1:00 – 3:00pm

Location: Stephens Coyote Ridge Regional Park, 2200 Glenmore Rd N.

Explore the forests and meadows of Stephens Coyote Ridge Regional Park with a park interpreter. Learn about snow and how plants and animals adapt to survive and thrive in these challenging conditions.

As this is an outdoor event, vaccine passports are not required.

Library Laughs

Date: Sunday, January 23rd – Saturday, January 29th

Location: Downtown Kelowna Library, 1380 Ellis Street

Families are encouraged to stop by the Downtown Kelowna Library and take part in some fun as a family! Take home a craft kit, complete a scavenger hunt, and play with our new toys!

  • Programs for children or teens – all adult attendees (21 years and older) must be vaccinated and show proof (digital or printed with ID).
  • Participants who cannot provide the proof of vaccination cannot participate in the program nor enter the program area.
  • We are not accepting exemptions. Online programming is available for those who cannot attend in person.
  • All attending that are 5 years or older must wear masks, no exemptions.

Walking Tour

Dates: Monday, January 24th / Wednesday, January 26th / Saturday, January 29th

Time: 1:00 – 4:00pm

Location: Lake Country Museum/Archives, 11255 Okanagan Centre Road West

Come to the Lake Country Museum + Archives and pick up your guide. Stroll the community and revisit heritage sites, walk the beach and learn about our ancestors and community. No registration required, event held outdoors.

As this is an outdoor event, vaccine passports are not required.


Story Walk & Playtime

Date: Monday, January 24th / Thursday, January 27th / Friday, January 28th

Time: 12:30 – 2:30pm each day

Location: Rutland-Pearson Elementary School, 700 Pearson Road, Kelowna

Please join Central Okanagan Family Hub for a Story Walk and a themed drop-in playtime with craft activities at the HUB! Story time will kick off each session.

This indoor playtime does not require proof of vaccines HOWEVER the following is required:

  • Social distancing
  • Sanitizing
  • All attending that are 5 years or older must wear masks, no exemptions.

Each of the eight (8) StrongStart centres will incorporate Unplug and Play activities throughout their daily sessions to encourage hands-on learning and play with both children and families. Emphasis will be on indoor and outdoor play activities that encourage whole family involvement.

Central Okanagan Public Schools StrongStart facilities follow School District 23 safety protocols. They encourage all guests to wear masks, complete a Daily Health Check before attending StrongStart and follow their safety protocols. They do not require vaccination status for visitors.

Winter Scavenger Hunt and Winter Ice Art Activity

Childhood Connections is offering free craft activity bags for parents to engage in with their children!

No proof of vaccine is required as this is a grab and go.


Baby Time at Downtown Kelowna Library

Date: Tuesday, January 25th

Time: 10:15-10:45am

Location: Downtown Kelowna Library, Great Room, 1380 Ellis Street

In-person Baby Time is back at Downtown Kelowna Library! Baby Time is our joyful early literacy program that helps grow the roots of a lifelong love of language. Bond with your baby through the power of song and rhymes! This program is recommended for babies, newborn-18 months and their caregiver. This FREE program is on the 2nd Floor in the Great Room.

  • Registration is required. Register 1 designated adult per group (up to 4 people in a group). 
  • Masks are required for participants 5 and older.
  • Caregivers will be asked for proof of vaccination and to remain with their children within an assigned physical space for the duration of the program.

Custom T-Shirts!

Date: Tuesday, January 25th

Time: 3:30-4:30pm

Location: Kelowna Rutland Library, Community Room, 301 Hwy 33 W #20, Kelowna

Your shirt, your way. Bring a t-shirt to customize at the Kelowna Rutland Library! This Story Time is recommended for children ages 3-6 years old and their caregivers. We welcome the entire family to join in the fun!

  • Registration is required for this FREE program.  
  • Masks are required for participants 5 and older.
  • Caregivers will be asked for proof of vaccination and to remain with their children within an assigned physical space for the duration of the program.

Chisel-bills and Carpenters – Woodpeckers are essential home builders for many forest creatures. Learn more about these hammer heads of the forest and search for their excavations.

Family Story Time at Downtown Kelowna Library

Date: Thursday, January 27th

Time: 10:30-11:15am

Location: Downtown Kelowna Library, Great Room, 1380 Ellis Street

Featuring longer books, puppets, and fun, children will sing and dance and rhyme for another season of Story Time at Downtown Kelowna Library! Crafting is a great way to bring your mind back to the real world. Join us as we learn how to heat-press custom graphics onto clothing, have some fun with papercraft, and talk about creating distance with crafting.

  • Programs for children or teens – all adult attendees (21 years and older) must be vaccinated and show proof (digital or printed with ID).
  • Participants who cannot provide the proof of vaccination cannot participate in the program nor enter the program area.
  • We are not accepting exemptions. Online programming is available for those who cannot attend in person.
  • All attending that are 5 years or older must wear masks, no exemptions.

Toddler Time at Lake Country Library

Join us at the Lake Country Library for songs, stories, rhymes and puppets! Recommended for children 19-35 months and their caregiver.

Nature Inspires

Date: Thursday, January 27th

Location: Scenic Canyon Regional Park – Hollywood Road South Entrance

Nature Journaling through sketching – Let the natural world around you be your inspiration! Learn about local flora and fauna in a regional park, then enjoy sketching using a pencil and sketchbook. All supplies are provided.

Wiggly Ribbons & Dance Party

Date: Friday, January 28th

Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Location: Peachland Community Centre, 4450 6th Street, Peachland

The Bridge Youth & Family Services Society is hosting Peachland Creative Playtime with a Wiggly Ribbons & Dance Party! Join them and create your very own wiggly ribbons and then show them off as you all sing, dance and twirl around at circle time.

Pre-Registration is required – limited spaces available

Family Skate

Dates: Saturday, January 29th

Time: 1:00 – 3:15pm

Location: Rutland Arena West, 645 Dodd Road

The City of Kelowna Active Living & Culture has graciously organized a family skate! So lace up and show off your best moves!

Guaranteed spots will be available for a small fee. You will need a client ID to pre-book here. If you do not have a customer account, contact Active Living & Culture at 250-469-8800 to set one up. Upon arrival to the arena, you will be given a free pass in exchange for this booking.

If you would prefer to simply drop-in, free passes will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Proof of vaccination is required for children 12 & up.

Animal Adaptations

Date: Saturday, January 29th

Time: 1:00 – 3:00pm

Location: Mission Creek Park, 2363 Springfield Rd – look for the tents set up by the main playground

This hands-on activity provided by Let’s Talk Science Outreach at UBC Okanagan, along with Regional District of Central Okanagan Interpreters, will allow youth to have the opportunity to explore different ways that animals insulate themselves to stay warm in winter by testing different insulating materials in snow/ice cold water.

As this is an outdoor event, vaccine passports are not required.
